President of RBNA: This year will become the “year of biofuel”

"I hope that this year can be named the “Year of biofuel” in Russia”, as Alexei Ablaev, President of the Russian National Biofuel Assiciation (RNBA).

According to A. Ablaev, this opinion has every ground. Russian President Vladimir Putin at the meeting with the Minister of Agriculture Alexei Gordeev at the end of 2007 announced: “We need to create favorable business conditions for promotion of biofuel production sites” and delegated to the head of Ministry for Agriculture to elaborate a system of stimulation of biofuel business in Russia.  

The Company “PAVA” has been negotiating with reputable engineering companies and equipment suppliers, the “Titan” is organizing the first Russian bio-petrol-chemical cluster in Omsk, the former Vice-President of “Gazprom” and Ex-Head of “Gazpromneft” Alexander Ryazanov intends to build a powerful plant for bioethanol production in Tambov region, a new bioethanol producing company has been established on the basis of Tulun Hydrolytic Plant in Irkutsk region, a Turkish company has started a construction project of a large plant for biodiesel production in Tbilissi region of Krasnodar.  

"Prime minister has set a goal to produce 140 Mio tons of corn in Russia for the next couple of years, this will double the present production and will suffice for food and biofuel. A major role will play the law, and RNBA will continue its work concerning the legislative development of the biofuel industry", - said A. Ablaev.

RNBA unites producers of renewable fuel – bioethanol and biodiesel and promotes usage of renewable fuel in Russia. The main objective of RNBA is to ensure best legislative, commercial and other conditions for biofuel production development and usage in Russia.
